Hello, I'm Freia Torge,
an expert in innovative heat and cold protection

I’ve experienced firsthand what it’s like when it’s way too hot at home for weeks on end in the summer. And I’m also familiar with problems related to cold and mold from various living situations I’ve encountered throughout my life.

Many people feel the same way I do: they suffer from poor indoor air quality at home, at work, or in other buildings.

I wasn't willing to put up with that anymore, so I founded Cool Ants Germany and use special materials to help solve these problems easily: no technology, no construction work, and no need for permission from the landlord or building department.

We are THE experts in simple indoor climate optimization.

Benefits

The benefits of our materials are clear: without consuming any energy themselves, they positively influence heating and cooling needs and protect people and infrastructure. They sustainably reduce heating and cooling costs as well as renovation expenses, and can be easily installed without requiring significant technical or structural work. This saves on labor, building materials, manufacturing energy, and operational energy, thereby protecting the environment—while also enhancing your personal well-being!

Fields of application

Heating and cooling buildings accounts for nearly 20% of all CO2 emissions in Germany2 And the energy required for this is becoming increasingly expensive. Therefore, it makes sense both environmentally and economically to conserve energy in this area. Our climate control materials have a wide range of applications in both residential and commercial settings, and our solutions can be customized to meet individual needs.

Interior paint solves heat problem in 1960s hospital building

Etienne-Philipp Terlinden summarized the effects of repainting the interior walls of the second-floor ward in a 1960s building as follows: “We don’t have any measurable results in the form of data, but we’ve received nothing but positive feedback from the ward staff. There were no complaints about the temperature on this ward at all throughout the summer, neither from staff nor from patients.” And he himself, as well as colleagues from building services, perceive the indoor climate and the temperature on the ward as significantly more pleasant than before the painting.

Heat protection in the window-filled attic conversion

“The customer is really grateful because it looks great and he finally has heat protection that works.” That’s according to Karsten Deutschmann of DEUTSCHMANN BERLIN.

A customer’s request for heat protection on numerous windows in a converted attic led him to our heat-protective curtains. Since the material was not only functional but also visually appealing, the heat-protective curtains were installed alongside the decorative curtains on all the windows.

Heat protection in nursing home using special curtains

“It’s noticeably cooler than with the regular curtains, and yet the room is still bright enough,” report the nursing staff at a historic Berlin nursing home. The open kitchen in the attic has a large south-facing window, and our special curtains were installed to provide effective heat protection.

Tenants help themselves against mold infestation

A family in Berlin discovered massive mold growth behind cabinets, doors, and in cold corners in two bedrooms. After the property management company failed to respond to their inquiries, the family took matters into their own hands and applied ClimateCoating. The result after two years: a good indoor climate and no new mold growth anywhere.

Less heating and no more foggy mirrors in the bathroom

Thanks to our painter’s persuasive efforts, we’re now able to enjoy the benefits of Climate Coating paint following our bathroom renovation. It’s not just the new bathroom itself, but the very pleasant indoor climate that makes us look forward to spending time there every day. Pleasant side effects: we were able to turn the heat down by a good degree, and—completely unexpectedly—the mirror cabinet doesn’t fog up even after a long shower. I’d be interested to know the technical reason behind this. Thanks to Freia Torge from Cool Ants for her enthusiastic persuasion!

Interior paint solves mold problems in the studio

My art studio experiences significant temperature fluctuations in the winter, and mold had taken up residence in the corners behind my paintings. After a brief consultation, I had the anti-mold treatment and paint the day after next. It’s been three months now, and the treatment has completely eliminated the mold. Thank you for the straightforward, quick, and expert advice.

Interior blinds in old buildings to combat heat stress

Although the landlord had already installed thick fabric blinds in our kitchen, it was unbearably hot in summer. That's why we had the blind fabric replaced with reflective fabric from Cool Ants Germany. The effect was immediately noticeable and measurable: it was up to 10°C cooler in the kitchen than in the comparative room with the old blinds.

Cool roof coating on supermarket makes AC redundant

A supermarket owner in France wanted to test whether he could keep supermarkets cool without the use of air conditioning. A comparative test in the summer of 2023 showed that with a cooling coating on the roof, it was 7°C cooler inside than in the comparison supermarket. This meant an inside temperature of 23°C at an outside temperature of 33°C – making it possible to operate without air conditioning at the height of summer.

Holiday apartments without AC, Algarve, Portugal

Robust hotel facade right by the sea

The huge concrete block from the 1960s stands unprotected directly on the beach in Tel Aviv. Constant damage to the facade due to moisture, salt and wind was the result. The management considered the semi-annual repair work to be unreasonable and had the entire building painted with ClimateCoating in 2021. Everyone is now congratulating themselves on the decision, because not a single facade repair has been necessary since then.

Cooling garments for elderly care

“If I may, I’d keep the vest right away.” That was the conclusion reached by a geriatric nurse after just two days of testing one of our cooling vests, worn under his usual work clothes in the sweltering attic of a nursing home.

“Sweat only on my face, my body completely relaxed—no sweat running down like it usually does when I’m caring for the residents. So definitely a thumbs-up; I didn’t expect that. Especially since you’re actually wearing more clothes,” he continued.

A quality surprise for the painter

As part of the renovation of a 1930s house, the customers wanted to have the newly insulated facade and a new extension coated with ClimateCoating. The reason for this was their concern about excessive heat build-up in summer and rapid algae growth due to the high level of insulation. The painter was very skeptical, but allowed himself to be persuaded to try it. His conclusion: “A paint that is excellent to work with and goes a long way”. He hadn't experienced anything like it in a long time. So the customer is highly satisfied and so is the painter.

5 Female Founders from Berlin at the GREENTECH Festival in LA

Together with Lara Obst, Cosima Richardson, Lia Carlucci, and Nhu Ha Dao, I had the opportunity to represent Berlin-based founders at the GREENTECH FESTIVAL in LA. Not only did we get to attend the conference, but we also had the chance to present our companies in 30-second pitches, which allowed us to connect with exactly the right people.
