In the large apartment in an old Potsdam building, which had not been renovated, it became unbearably hot in the summer, especially in the two rooms facing the direct sun. The thick white blinds installed by the landlord provided little protection against the penetrating heat.
Since one of the rooms had to be used as a kitchen every day, the existing blinds were replaced with heat-protective material. The effect was impressive: in direct comparison over time, it was up to 10°C cooler in the kitchen than in the comparable guest room on the other side of the apartment.
