Interior paint solves heat problem in hospital

Problem

In a 1960s hospital building facing south, there had been complaints about excessive heat every summer for years in the ward on the second floor.

This was equally problematic for the people working there and for patients, and therefore an urgent problem to be solved by the facility's technical department.

Solution

In fall 2024, the entire station was painted with ClimateCoating® interior coating. This has two effects in terms of summer heat protection:

  • As a thermal barrier, it keeps heat from penetrating the walls and ceiling, thereby slowing down the heat gradient.
  • As a moisture management surface, it absorbs high humidity and slowly releases it again as evaporation, creating evaporative cooling.

Result

In the summer of 2025, there was not a single complaint from staff or patients about excessive heat. On the contrary, staff repeatedly confirmed that it was not too hot in the ward and that the indoor climate was much more pleasant.

The technical management team was also impressed by the effect; during site visits, the improvement in temperature and comfort was clearly noticeable.
