The creators behind Radi-Cool have developed a scalable metamaterial \u2013 a man-made material with extraordinary properties that do not occur in nature \u2013 that can serve as a kind of air conditioning system for structures. It is able to cool objects even in direct sunlight, without consuming energy or water. When applied to a surface, the metamaterial film cools the object below by efficiently reflecting incoming solar energy back into space, while the surface simultaneously emits its own heat in the form of infrared heat radiation.<\/p>
