Containers are not only used for transportation, but also in a variety of stationary applications - whether as storage, temporary utility or living space, for outdoor technology or other uses. Stationary containers are usually permanently outside and often unprotected against heat. In contrast, air conditioning systems are sometimes used, which consume energy and require regular maintenance to maintain their performance. And often there is no protection against heat in the container.
Our tensioning sails are a simple, energy-neutral and mobile solution or support against heat. They can be attached with tensioning straps in the standard eyelets at all four corners of 20-foot containers. They can be easily installed in the spring and removed in the fall. Nothing is changed on the container, so this solution is also ideal for rented containers.
A test in June 2023 in Murcia, Spain, showed that the temperature difference between a container with a cooling sail and a standard container was up to 8°C at peak times between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – a significant heat load reduction that benefits people and goods.
In the future, the sails will be made with a new material from our manufacturer that will keep out the heat even better, thus reducing the need for air conditioning in the container.
